Every venture needs a nurturer. At Terra, co-founder Rita Ward is that person - the nurturer who encourages the artists, embraces the guests, nourishes the grounds with a loving touch - and simply adds a dimension that no other person could. Rita is also a clay teacher and artist with a devoted following: those who collect a wide range of her pieces from carved stoneware mugs to enchanting sculptures.

With her trademark dazzling smile, Rita enjoys a moment of music at Terra's 25th Anniversary party last Oct.
Last year was full of milestones for Rita. She turned 70; Terra turned 25; and she and Leo celebrated their golden anniversary.
