Bluebird of Happiness

 Bluebird of Happiness Stories

The Eastern Bluebird is the real life model for Terra Studios' original Bluebird of Happiness® Native only to North America and Bermuda, early settlers were captivated by its friendliness and sweet song. Since then it has been associated with love, joy, and the renewal of springtime. Bluebirds are used to commemorate marriages and anniversaries and are considered messengers of good health and contentment.

Terra Studios utilizes a pure white sand mined in Northeastern Arkansas to fabricate the beautiful crystal glass used to create their authentic Bluebird of Happiness® and other glass collectibles. The inimitable, translucent blue color is created by adding black copper oxide to the molten glass.

Once the glass has reached the proper temperature, the Terra Studios craftsperson rotates his punty rod inside the furnace until a small globe of molten glass gathers at its end. Guided by the quick, deft strokes of his tools, the glass begins to take shape. Within minutes, the recognizable form of the popular Bluebird of Happiness® emerges.

After cooling, the figurines go through a careful, quality inspection. They are then signed and dated by designer Leo Ward. Since each is a handcrafted original, they make wonderful gifts and collectibles.
